背景挖掘、顛覆錄取標準：
既然成績不占優勢，針對學生目前具備的其他背景中深度挖掘匹配南加大錄取標準的往屆成功案例。例如我們在Common申請系統5個essay中選擇Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you? 去描述學生高中的課外活動，體現該學生的寫作天賦，接下來如何克服各種困難訓練鋼琴，如何成為領隊者的敘述等。學生一直不驕不躁，繼續前行的性格特質。這些都是以南加大的錄取宗旨為出發點進行文書創作。
提醒的是Common申請系統里有5個essay，選擇哪個去回答，如何回答都是需要謹慎考量，因為整個申請，除了個別學校有附加essay，無其他方式和途徑能展現學生的優秀。另外，在南加大附加Esaay中In a short paragraph, please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences. (250 word limit)我們也體現出該同學勇于面對挑戰，堅強不息的性格特點。
